Resume and career

Since May 2018

Catharina has been working for Brahms, Nebel & Kollegen since May 2018. She advises project developers, operators, energy suppliers, banks and investors as well as the public sector on all legal issues in connection with the development and operation, acquisition and sale, financing and corporate structuring of energy projects, in particular in the field of wind and solar energy, heat supply and storage technologies. She also advises her clients on regulatory and energy law issues in connection with grid connection, the German Energy Industry Act, subsidies within the framework of the Renewable Energy Sources Act and the digititalization of the energy industry and represents their interests in and out of court.

One of her main areas of practice is advising French clients with regard to German jurisdiction. For cross-border project developments, transactions, financing and investments on the German-French energy market, Catharina advises her clients in the French language and has partner law firms in France with whom she has established a trustworthy relationship over many years.

In addition, Catharina regularly publishes specialist articles on current topics of energy law and gives lectures at pertinent conferences.

Between November 2010 and May 2018

As a lawyer in a Berlin law firm specialized in renewable energy law, Catharina advised her clients comprehensively on all legal issues in this field and was active in various legal areas. She accompanied investors and project developers in the acquisition and sale of energy projects and in the implementation of project financing, in particular for larger wind parks. She also advised on the corresponding due diligences and carried out corporate structuring. In addition, she drafted and negotiated general contractor contracts, contracts for work and services, and supply contracts as well as contracts for the use of real estate.

Her clients also benefitted from her linguistic and intercultural skills, combined with her in-depth knowledge of the French legal system. The support of German-French mandates including questions of European law and private international law as well as the translation of French contracts into German was entrusted to her with confidence.

Between August 2008 and August 2010

Catharina completed her legal internship at the Berlin Court of Appeal, including training at the Court of Justice of the European Union and in an international law firm in Paris. There she gained initial experience in legal advice in the field of renewable energies in the cross-border German-French market.

September 2006 – Juli 2008

For two years, Catharina was a lecturer in German law at the Institut de Droit Comparé de Paris of the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas, where she held lectures and tutorials on German law, comparative law, and German legal culture. Furthermore, she conducted comparative research on the law applicable to commercial agents and university systems.
